Vacation Time Workout Recap!

Last week, I didn’t manage to post my workout log… the wifi was terrible at our hotel in Whistler, but I managed to post this video of myself on the trapeze!

So, as far as my workouts went…

Monday August 11, I went for a nice walk with my mom and then we took my daughters and one of my nephews swimming after their summer camp was over. As it turned out, it was the nicest day of the week and a perfect choice for going swimming!

Tuesday August 12: P90X3 Yoga. This workout is fairly easy for me to throw in, even when I’m tired. I think I started it around 9pm and it set me up for a great night sleep.

Wednesday, I walked with my mom and her good friend. The weather was lousy so we walked through the mall. Exactly the workout I had planned because being active does NOT always require structured workouts, weights, a gym or DVDs, it simply requires the focus on moving your body and getting your muscles moving.

My new Asics Indoor workout shoesThursday on the other hand was set for a tough workout — P90X3 Triometrics was ordered up. I laced up my brand new Asics workout shoes and pushed play. It was a sweaty but amazing workout! I did this workout mid-morning, which is my favorite time to workout. I rarely get to schedule DVD workouts for that time, so I’m really happy I did that while on vacation.

For the end of the week, I picked Les Mills Pump, Pump & Burn — but I didn’t take the barbell with me to my parents’ house, so I did it with dumbbells instead. There was certainly a different feel to the workout, but effective nonetheless.

Friday night I got to meet my good friend Althea Buhler for the first time in the flesh! She is another Beachbody coach and she happened to be in Vancouver for that night. We got to visit for about an hour, but it was a great hour

Vacation Part 2

Saturday morning we drove from Richmond BC to Whistler BC for our family vacation! I hadn’t been to Whistler since sometime in the 1990s and I was so excited to get back up there. I had visions of doing so much but kinda forgot that we have an 8 year old and a 5 year old who cannot walk or ride bikes or do all the things that I used to do for as long as needed! We did a lot, but snacks, potty breaks and short legs prevented some of my plans to come to fruition!

Anyway, Saturday was planned as a non-workout day — just walking around. That was a good choice. I don’t regret it when I don’t do a full on workout, I regret it when I feel lousy and don’t take care of myself.

Sunday was another non-workout day — but I went on the trapeze (in the video above) and did a ton of walking around Whistler. It was not exactly an “off-day”.

Selfie On Blackcomb Mountain, Whistler CanadaMonday August 18 was the day I was looking forward to the MOST! It was our day to go up the mountain, take the Peak2Peak and enjoy all the grandness that is Whister-Blackcomb. I’m going to dedicate another entire post to the day up the mountains, but here’s the selfie I took during our trail hike on Blackcomb.

Oh, and just for kicks, Sam and I started the day with P90X3 Warrior!

Tuesday August 19 involved swimming with the kids, a head cold and bungee trampoline and walking.

Wednesday the 20th we drove from Whistler back to my parents for lunch and then home. I nursed my head cold and started to feel better.

It was so refreshing to be home on Thursday — I did Les Mills Pump, Pump & Burn to celebrate. I seriously love that workout. I’m not sure it’s my soul mate workout or anything, but I love having it in my weekly routine.

Friday, Sam picked Focus T25 Alpha Total Body Circuit for us to do. I swear, he picks that workout whenever I’m not feeling 100% — and it was brutal again! Hopefully next time we do it, I’ll be feeling great and excited to knock it out of the ballpark, but I didn’t on Friday, that’s for sure!

So, I followed it with P90X3 Yoga on Saturday. And on Sunday, we did the two Russell Wilson workouts on the XBox One. They were FABULOUS! I hope that more come soon.

For the final week before the kids go back to school, here’s my plan:

  • Monday August 25: P90X3 Accelerator
  • Tuesday August 26: Les Mills Pump, Pump & Burn
  • Wednesday August 27: P90X3 Triometrics
  • Thursday August 28: Focus T25 with Sam
  • Friday August 29: P90X3 Yoga
  • Saturday August 30: Les Mills Pump, Pump & Shred
  • Sunday August 31: Focus T25 with Sam

I am so thankful you read to the bottom of this post — please leave a comment so that I know that you enjoyed it. I would also really appreciate a share — it means so much to me that you are supporting my fitness journey. Just because I’m petite and don’t look like I have to  workout doesn’t mean I shouldn’t workout. I do it for my health. I write this blog to stay accountable and maybe to inspire someone to do one more rep or start a new program.

Oh, and sneak peak: I’m going to be offering a brand new personal training/Beachbody hybrid program in September — if you’re interested in the details, please let me know — you can be ANYWHERE, because the Personal Training is going to be either in person or via SKYPE!!
