Recap: Live Shaun T Workout

Recap: Live Shaun T Workout

Last fall, my husband bid on the chance to attend a live workout with Shaun T “sometime in May 2014” on the Microsoft main campus here in Redmond. He’s worked at Microsoft for nearly 14 years and donated money every year as part of the Giving Campaign. I remember so well when he asked me… Continue Reading

My MS Story

My MS Story

I’ve been so timid to share my story on my blog, because it’s not a weight loss story, or something that feels like ‘that big a deal.’ But according to some of my most trusted friends, it’s something I need to do. It’s an opportunity for me to grow, and to take a step closer… Continue Reading

Certified! Now planning for 2014

When I purchased the personal trainer certification resources back in June, I figured it would take me 3 months to get through the material and get my certification. I  thought I would be training clients in their homes by October and well on my way to making $1000/week training… pipe dreams, right? Well, it took… Continue Reading

I cried over a flat tire…
Yup, you read that correctly, I had horrible, messy tears streaming down my face because of a flat tire! Not sure when the screw decided to connect with the tire, but... When I came home from running an errand in the middle of the day yesterday, I felt the rim of my left rear tire bounce. Ugh, flat... glad I was home and could call roadside assistance from the house and *stay productive* -- or not! When the spare was put on the roadside assistant guy gave me bad news -- the screw in my tire was in a place [more]
Sometimes I thought it was in my head
Three years ago, I ran the Seattle Rock & Roll Half Marathon in 2:07:08 and was completely stoked! It was an amazing accomplishment and something that I didn't know I wanted to do until I decided to do it. When I registered for that event, I committed to the training and the process. I started training during the winter snow and fell in love with running. I had also decided that instead of running one half-marathon that summer, I would run two. I figured that it was only another 6 weeks of training and it would be incredible to be [more]
Carrot Ring Recipe
OK, this is my first (and potentially only) recipe post -- I'm not much of an innovator in the kitchen, but anyway... Every year for Thanksgiving I make my version of a family recipe for "Carrot Ring" Carrot ring is pretty much a quick bread, like zucchini bread made in the top of a bundt cake pan (hence the "ring".) It's sweet and a great compliment to the other foods on the Thanksgiving menu. Here are the ingredients: 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour (I use unbleached organic) 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup raisins 3 cups grated carrots (I [more]
Back to School | Workout Update
Growing up, Labor Day weekend always meant the final preparation for back to school, it was no different in my house last weekend. By Monday, the girls' stuff was all organized and ready for school. We anticipated a nice week ahead and took advantage of it, so that we could walk each day! Here's the rundown of my workouts for the past week: Monday (Labor Day): Running -- I ran 3 miles and felt great Tuesday -- 2 mile walk (in 1/2 mile increments, that's the distance to/from school) + P90X3 Yoga Wednesday  -- 2 mile walk Thursday -- 1 [more]
Is it better to plan and tweak or not to plan?
Every week, I've been laying out my upcoming week's workout plan... last week was no different. In last week's post, I stated that my workouts were going to be something like this: Monday August 25: P90X3 Accelerator Tuesday August 26: Les Mills Pump, Pump & Burn Wednesday August 27: P90X3 Triometrics Thursday August 28: Focus T25 with Sam Friday August 29: P90X3 Yoga Saturday August 30: Les Mills Pump, Pump & Shred Sunday August 31: Focus T25 with Sam Well, now that the week has come and gone, let me tell you - the week looked nothing like that! My plan [more]
Vacation Time Workout Recap!
Last week, I didn't manage to post my workout log... the wifi was terrible at our hotel in Whistler, but I managed to post this video of myself on the trapeze! http://youtu.be/qsgUBG1SSVE So, as far as my workouts went... Monday August 11, I went for a nice walk with my mom and then we took my daughters and one of my nephews swimming after their summer camp was over. As it turned out, it was the nicest day of the week and a perfect choice for going swimming! Tuesday August 12: P90X3 Yoga. This workout is fairly [more]
